Lan Party surroundings of Levice

Hi all,

I would like to know if there is a community active in the surroundings of Levice which organizes LAN parties?

I'm from Belgium, but moved to SK 2 years ago, and I'm starting to miss the LAN parties I had back then. If there are no lan parties organized currently, I would start to organize it myself.

The type of lan party i'm looking for is not purely game-oriented, but also a place for common-minded people to get together, have a chat over a beer. So no 24-hour-straight CounterStrike or StarCraft, but more of a "what shall we play now?" kind of activity.

My old Belgian clan (clanthegathering.be) used to have one monthly small LAN with 5 up to 20 participants. We regularly played C&C:Generals, Borderlands, but generally we just played anything that seemed fun at the time. Sometimes we dug up some real old-skool games, sometimes we played games released the previous week. As long as it remained fun. Ages were from 15 to 40.

So I'm looking for a similar experience, or interest from other people to join if I would organize such an event.

i guess with the advent of broadband, nobody wants to get out of their home anymore to play games ...

that's true but it wouldn't be a bad idea to organize a small LAN party to bring memories back from the old times..

basically I already have group but not in Levice and the general problem is probably a space for LAN party.. and it will be very hard to find someone mainly because of broadband internet

I am not from Levice, but I would be happy to attend some LAN party. I'll ask my friend who organizes LAN parties in his village, so he could think up something.

because there is no other topic about LAN parties and I dont have a problem to travel...

in Belgium we also didn't have broadband internet.

What we did, one guy had a 3G modem that we hooked up to our switch, and we used it only for steam (or other DRM)-authentication. a few guys were IM'ing their girlfriends through it too.

I guess for a few euro's we can rent a small place in one of the kulturny doms surrounding levice. Only problem could be power supply, but if we keep it small (<20 people), it shouldn't be such a big issue.

Of course, first I would need at least 5 interested people in order for me to start looking for a place.

I already know couple of guys who organize LAN Parties not very far away from Levice but problem is, that last time when I went there, we separated into groups and every group played different game thus I would suggest at the most about 15 people. These times I would say that every one has a notebook so that is not a big problem with voltage.

The fun is, that I have found this thread accitentally I was looking for a shop to buy Starcraft 2 in Levice.

In fact, I currently don't have the hardware to play anything serious. I have a 2-year old company laptop with an intel IGP ...

Older games like CS or C&C: Generals run ok.

My last desktop machine was an Athlon 3400 with an ATi 9800XT (8 years old?), which is now just a heap of non-functioning dust.

I'm planning to buy a serious desktop machine in the coming months (though I've been saying that for the last 5 years). It's just that I don't want to buy so far in the current gpu-cycle. I also don't feel that the AMD Radeon HD 6xxx-series was a significant upgrade from its predecessor (unlike the 4xxx and 5xxx series), so I'm holding off until the 7xxx-series is out later this year.

go for intel i5 or 7 CPU
the most played games on our LAN party is Warcraft III (DotA map), UT2K4, HL2DM, COD2, CS (don't like it at all, I am a quaker).
These games I would like to play next LAN party: L4D2, C&C Kane's Wrath, MOHAA, maybe Worms Reloaded (2D) or some races

hmm. L4D2 and UT2K4? Im from Levice. That sounds good.

From my experience we should agree games to be on playlist and organize it somehow because otherwise if we invite lot of gamers with different preferencies we will face problem with noobz or worse - groups of people playing their own games..

I will create a list when we band togerther.

Just received message that one LAN party will be in two weeks, village named Zbrojniky. I will found out more information about it but no sure if I can attend it.

I don't mind to play anything, but I haven't played seriously in over 6 years. Plus I never played any high-speed games like quake or UT. I'm more for team-based games.

I've also never been that great, so I guess I will count among "noobz" most of the time.

I do agree a list of games (+version of patch) should be available, so that everything can be installed up front.

what kind of game do you prefer? put here some examples.. I have information that is is organized by some guy from Levice

I know, pretty old games. However, I don't mind playing anything. As long as I can have a beer, a cigarette and chat a bit with like-minded people, I'm already happy .

I haven't all of those games. Some I only plan to buy during the Steam Summer Sales. but for 3 euros ... who cares!

btw, good to see that speakers are forbidden, we had the same rule.

With my friends we used to bring speakers but mostly they were very quiet..

By the way those games are probably not legal.. first of all I will ask if there is some more space for you, maybe I will go too but just to see them..

There is some shop for a sure but don't know the open time.
