Job Description
In a team of business analysts and application engineers you will be responsible for the software development aspects in a reinsurance application project. The project will include the implementation of challenging business functions both on the server- and on the client-side. Some server-side functions will be modelled as batch functions.
• technical design of the solution in a close cooperation within Finance and Reserving solution and with other IT team members and under supervision of the IT project leader
• discussion, design iteration and agreement of the design with the Business Analysis and the project leader
Development of application running batch processed over huge amounts of data;
- Developing and testing over IBM WebSphere application server;
- Utilizing Compute Grid technology and batch framework - constant communication with external developers about adjustments and optimization of batch framework implementation;
- Working with DB2 on Host Application;
- Solving algorithmic problems, mostly dealing with sorting;
- Optimization of data structures to fit the data model (e.g. implementation of special type of Map);
- Analyzing COBOL programs with business logic;
- Implementation in Java 1.5;
- Development in Eclipse SDK 3.3.0.
Requirements
• Bachelors or Masters degree in a technical field
• Up to 3 years of experience in system development
• Knowledge and experience in Object-Oriented software development (Java, J2EE, Eclipse, Spring, Hibernate, Maven, XML)
• Very good knowledge of the relational data model, relational databases, in particular DB2
• Good Command of English, knowledge of German is an asset
• Independent and responsive in character and work
• Experience in IT topics and tasks, interested in new trends and developments
• Knowledge of structured programming (Cobol, TSO, JCL, z/OS, Batch) is considered a plus or to be open to do analysis in legacy systems to support a migration to Java
